DNSMigrator separates per-zone migration purchases from recurring managed-zone plans. The key point is that a one-time tier unlocks one migration, while Free, Pro and Agency set workspace zone, seat and ongoing-management limits; only an Owner can change a subscription.
One-time migration tiers#
One-time migrations are billed per zone and do not require a subscription. The required apply tier uses the preview’s target record-set count—records with a translated target, before user exclusions. A count of 50 or fewer requires Migrate; more than 50 requires at least Migrate + cutover.
| Tier | Price | Record-set limit | Rollback window | Included workflow |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Migrate | $9 per zone | Up to 50 | 7 days | Apply with a destination snapshot, verify against the new nameservers and roll back during the window |
| Migrate + cutover | $29 per zone | No limit | 30 days | Migrate for any size, guided switch, TTL-lowering plan, DNSSEC transition and propagation tracking |
| Automated | $49 per zone | No limit | 30 days | Everything in Migrate + cutover, plus registrar nameserver changes through a connected API |
The code orders these entitlements, so a higher one satisfies a lower requirement for the same migration. Automated satisfies apply and guided cutover. Migrate + cutover satisfies a size-based Migrate requirement but does not unlock an automatic registrar switch.
After a free preview, the migration page names the required tier and price. If card checkout is configured, select Pay $… and continue. You return to the migration to apply after the signed payment webhook stores its entitlement. Admins and Owners can purchase a one-time migration; Members cannot.
A valid launch access code can also unlock the tier shown by the code. The service rejects expired, exhausted or already-used codes and will not add a second entitlement to an already paid migration.
Workspace plans#
All prices are in US dollars.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Managed zones | Seats | Backups | Drift checks | Included migration tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 3 | 1 | None | None | None |
| Pro | $19 | $190 | 25 | 3 | Daily | Hourly | None |
| Agency | $99 | $990 | 250 | 15 | Hourly | Every 15 minutes | Migrate + cutover |
The canonical plan summaries are:
- Free: previews, the zone editor for up to 3 zones, and pay-per-zone migrations.
- Pro: backups, drift alerts and multi-provider sync for up to 25 zones.
- Agency: bulk moves, client reports and included migrations for MSPs and web agencies.
The Billing page’s Monthly and Yearly · 2 months free switch changes the displayed subscription price. The yearly values are the exact annual charges above, not a monthly installment display.
Feature matrix#
| Feature | Free | Pro | Agency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scheduled zone backups | No | Yes, daily | Yes, hourly |
| Drift monitoring | No | Yes, hourly | Yes, every 15 minutes |
| Multi-provider sync | No | Yes | Yes |
| Email, Slack and webhook channels | Yes* | Yes | Yes |
| Team seats | 1 | 3 | 15 |
| Bulk CSV migrations | No | No | Yes |
| Client workspace reports | No | No | Yes |
| Priority support | No | No | Yes |
| Migrate + cutover entitlement included | No | No | Yes |
Every plan can open an individual migration’s printable report. Client workspace reports means the period summary under Reports, which the service gates to Agency. See Reports.
Agency’s included tier is exactly Migrate + cutover. It does not include Automated registrar cutover. The billing entitlement check applies the included tier at workspace level; a migration that needs Automated still needs its own Automated entitlement.
Read current usage#
Go to Billing to see Current plan, Managed zones and Seats. Zone usage counts managed-zone rows in the workspace. Seat usage on this page counts active memberships; the Team invitation flow also reserves seats for unexpired pending invitations before allowing another invite.
The plan limits are enforced when you create or import a managed zone and when you invite a person. At the limit, the related page links back to Billing rather than adding an à-la-carte zone or seat.
Free has one seat, which is normally the workspace Owner. Pro has three seats and Agency has fifteen. Roles and the actions each seat can perform are documented under Teams and roles.
Upgrade a subscription#
Only an Owner can start subscription checkout.
Open Billing
Go to Billing and review the current zone and seat meters.
Choose an interval
Select Monthly or Yearly · 2 months free. Confirm the exact displayed amount for Pro or Agency.
Start checkout
Select Upgrade to Pro or Upgrade to Agency. A non-Owner sees Ask an owner to upgrade and cannot start subscription checkout.
Complete payment
Finish checkout with the deployment’s configured Stripe or Paddle provider. On return, Thanks, your payment went through. notes that the plan can take a few seconds to update while the webhook is processed.
Confirm the plan
Reload Billing and verify Current plan, renewal information, managed-zone limit and seat limit. Do not assume the return URL alone proves that the billing webhook was applied.
If checkout is canceled, the page shows Checkout canceled. Nothing was charged.
If the deployment has no payment provider configured, Billing shows Card checkout opens soon. and directs early-access users to email DNSMigrator. Upgrade buttons are disabled until checkout is available.
Manage billing and invoices#
When an Owner has a non-Free plan tied to the currently configured payment provider, Manage billing opens that provider’s customer portal. Use it for invoices and provider-supported subscription changes. The DNSMigrator page itself shows plan, usage, status and renewal date; it does not render an invoice list locally.
Billing webhooks are idempotent by provider event ID. A paid one-time checkout stores a purchase and migration entitlement. Subscription events update the workspace plan, provider customer/subscription IDs, status and renewal date. Accepted active-plan statuses are active, trialing and past due; canceled or paused subscriptions resolve to Free feature limits in the plan lookup.
Subscription checkout and portal access require Owner. One-time migration checkout requires Admin or Owner because it affects only that migration’s entitlement. Viewing Billing and usage requires any workspace membership.
Notification plan enforcement exception#
The plan catalog assigns notification alerts to Pro and Agency, but the release notification page and channel service do not check the workspace plan. That is why the matrix marks channels as available on Free with an asterisk. Reports, scheduled backups, drift, multi-provider sync, and bulk import do enforce their plan feature in the service. See Notifications for current channel behavior.
